Hubbard Kicks Off 2010 with Win During Super Bowl of Racing
01/31/10
Hubbard qualified fifth fastest, his third top-five qualifying position in as many nights, won his heat race and started the 60-lap event on the pole. The $12,000 win was the largest payoff in Hubbard's young Super Late Model career.
Hubbard's victory celebration was a memorable one. Stripping off his race suit, Hubbard impersonated "Ricky Bobby" from the movie "Talladega Nights", running wildly on the front stretch with arms flying in the air. "I wanted them to understand just how excited I was" Hubbard commented during post race interviews. "Golden Isles Speedway is my kind of track. Hammer down!"
Up next for Hubbard is the WinterNationals at East Bay Raceway Park. Hubbard will be prepared to command the No. 19 Beitler Enterprises Reliable Painting car starting Feburary 1 after a brief one-day break for travel. When asked about event, Hubbard said "We were good at our December test at East Bay. I hope we can keep the momentum going. I love the wide open type tracks. They are like Virginia Motor Speedway where I learned to race late models."
