February 9, 2018 - Hubbard Begins 2018 Season at East Bay for Wrisco Winternationals
1Bringing the 2018 season to life, Austin Hubbard made the trek to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) on Monday night for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned opener. With 40 Super Late Models on hand for the Wrisco Industries Winternationals, Hubbard fell two spots short of a transfer position in his heat with a 6th place finish. Needing a 3rd place finish or better in his B-Main to make the opening night feature, Hubbard landed a 2nd place finish behind Gregg Satterlee positioning him 19th on the starting grid. Breaking into the Top-10, Austin Hubbard improved ten spots in the 30-lapper to place 9th.

1The following night, Austin recorded the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group before landing a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Gregg Satterlee. Earning the 5th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Hubbard dropped back to a 12th place outing. (Heath Lawson photos)

On Wednesday night with 51 Super Late Models signed in, Hubbard edged his way into the $7,000-to-win A-Main with the 3rd and final transfer spot in his heat. Rolling off 17th, Austin gained four spots in the 30-lap affair logging a 13th place finish.

1With 53 cars on hand on Thursday evening, Hubbard came up two spots shy of a transfer position in his heat with a 5th place finish. Failing to place in the Top 3 in his B-Main, Austin had one last shot at the $7,000-to-win feature with the Strawberry Dash. Transferring only the race winner into the show, Hubbard streaked to the consolation victory earning him the 26th-starting position. Gaining five spots, Austin Hubbard reeled in a 21st place outing.

For the $10,000 top prize on Friday night, Austin suffered a blown motor early in his heat that ended his night immediately. The team eventually swapped motors but decided to sit out Saturday’s finale.
